Frequently Asked Questions

Please contact us if you cannot find an answer to your question.

No. Anyone can access speech pathology services, however you may be able to access Medicare programs to assist with therapy funding through your GP.

This is often very difficult to predict unfortunately! Every child is different and their needs are likely to vary. Throughout therapy we will constantly review progress and will be happy to discuss any concerns you may have.

There are a variety of signs that may indicate that your child would benefit from seeing a speech pathologist. Speech Pathology Australia has produced a Communication Milestones Kit that includes information around the talking and understanding milestones for children aged 1-5 years which you can find here. If you feel that there is something not quite right, we will always encourage you to check in rather than take a "wait and see" approach.

This will be different depending on the child and their goals! For younger children, we will typically use a play-based approach as play is their way of learning. For older children, we may use a combination of sit-down activities with fun games to functionally practice their developing skills. If you are not present at a session, we will provide you with a written recap with recommendations of activities to continue practicing at home.

Little Chirps offers a mixture of clinic based or outreach appointments. Our clinic location is 4/23 Mitchell Drive, East Maitland, convenient to many public transport routes and across the road from Stockland Greenhills. Alternatively, we can travel to you. This means that intervention can be provided in an environment that is natural for your child, such as your home or their childcare/school. Many families find this helpful as it reduces the amount of time they need to spend travelling to a clinic.

Contact us for an individual quote. We pride ourself on making speech pathology accessible for all and will try to assist you in accessing any rebates or programs that may be available.

The best way to get the process started is to give us a call or send us an email. We can then get to know you and your child a little bit better and can book you in for the appropriate next steps.
